Dinner Trifecta
Dinners and after-work activity thus far this week:
Monday: stinky stinky cheese and chocolate chip cookies, made from refridgerated dough with patriotic star-shaped chips. Still cleaning up from the Bastille Day party.
Tuesday: homegrown swiss chard with angel hair pasta. Changed Nana's address, and cancelled her cable, newspaper, and Women's Day.
Wednesday: Hamburger Helper Microwave Single: Cheeseburger Macaroni (surprisingly tasty given the number of multisyllabic ingredients). Sorted through the food (hence the HH), clothes, linens, paperwork, and tchotchkes I brought over from Nana's apartment.
So yeah, the week has been mixed. I look forward to a funnel cake at some point at the Fair...Cheers, -MisAdventure

Nothing new since September. But still nice to have in front of you. Thanks, Wanderlusta! Cheers, -MisAdventure

It's Time!
Dug out from the garage and dusted off Ye Olde Hammock yesterday, so it's officially spring!
Other harbingers of spring:
- frantically collecting phone numbers on eHarmony, as subscription is nearly up
- seedlings are sprouting, and it's time to thin them out and hand some over to Miss Maya and M2. Sent the lettuce seeds to KanBan in Maine, as I do not have the patience to monitor the moisture levels as much as one needs to.
- first pedicure. Followed by lucid dream about an eHarmony date waxing poetic about my toes, then turning over to the sole to see sandal carnage. Weird.
- wanting to take up sewing again, as the 44-B dresses (vintage or otherwise) are not exactly flying off the racks in my direction.
- lunchtime bike rides at work through the older parts of town I know in name only; there's precious few plans to be made over there! The variety of birds is quite lovely on the North Lake.
Ah well. Good times ahead. Cheers, -MisAdventure

Don't Make Me Choose!
Whether to send off Prince or Queen into the LaLa mix!
Also, I simply cannot separate the CDs in digipaks from their packaging, only to be left with an empty shell. No, I say! Cheers, -MisAdventure

Good Eats in Waikiki
This probably ought to be on Chowhound...maybe later. We were tipped off about Sansei's early bird sushi specials, but we never in a million dreams thought we'd be mistaken for Oahu locals. But hooray for 50% off! We were first in line, and after a hard day of lounging on the beach and stuffing ourselves with ahi poke salad, we were ready for a feast! We had more poke, crab & lobster ravioli in a shiitake truffle butter sauce, seaweed salad, and then came the sushi: Caterpillar, Pink Cadillac and Yellow Submarine rolls. Dessert was passed up in favor of Beard Papa cream puffs. Feral Jeff ought to have been very pleased with the trip, because aside from the bbq pork we had in Haleiwa, and the Hawaiian french toast at the hotel, all of our other meals were Japanese: ramen, teppanyaki, sashimi, and sushi. Yay! Cheers, -MisAdventure

Repent!
Today I was stricken by the amount of sugar I had. It actually started last night, when I decided to make Fruity Pebbles marshmallow treats for a work lunch today. I cleverly renamed them Mardi Gras confetti bars, and promised some to Roomie since he contributed the Fruity Pebbles. Then my coworkers met at IHOP for National Pancake Day and their free short stack promotion. An hour or so of work until lunch, then a can of real Coke, two cookies, a mini chocolate bar, and said confetti bars, since we ran out of sandwiches and I made do with salad. Then homemade king cake, and then birthday ice cream. Any wonder I was a sluggish mess? After all this clean living so far this year, what with the chard and the squashes and all, my pancreas was not up to the task. It's a wonder I didn't slip into a coma. How'd you spend your Mardi Gras!? Cheers, -MisAdventure

Flurry
Last day in Chicago, and it's been a full weekend. Trips to the usual museum suspects (Museum of Science & Industry, with Body Worlds 2; Adler Planetarium; Field Museum of Natural History) and some more off-the-beaten track (Chicago History Museum, with their Dior New Look exhibit and all-around excellent collection; Smart Museum at the University of Chicago, with their Cosmophilia exhibit of Islamic art). Foodwise, happiness can be found at the MSI & Planetarium cafes, so that you can save up for small plates at Graze (have the pumpkin ravioli), Lucky Wine Company, and Parlor. Browsed the many boutiques of Wicker Park, and a stop at CB2 (I want a wall-full of these!) Alright, 'nuff said, I am off to H&M. Cheers, -MisAdventure
